Susan Boyle – Learning Disabilities Inspiration!

by Yael on April 23, 2009

Last summer, kids with ADD and ADHD  had Michael Phelps as their hero.  This month, Susan Boyle is a terrific role model to show how kids (and adults) with learning difficulties have to go with their gifts!  The singing rage on Britain’s Got Talent, with over 100 million hits on YouTube now, was quoted in Deadline Scotland as saying,  “I was slightly brain damaged at birth, and I want people like me to see that they shouldn’t let a disability get in the way. I want to raise awareness – I want to turn my disability into ability."

I cringed as I heard the laughter at Boyle’s dream by the audience.  But my dismay turned to tears once I watched the audience reaction after she started to sing.  Yes, school may be a challenge, but don’t forget to seek out and support your child’s gifts!  Turn those challenges into abilities.

That kid from Wales is adorable with some voice too! But this is Susan’s time: Go Susan!
